Karen Buck MP
Karen has been the MP for Westminster North since 2010 (and previously Regent’s Park and Kensington North 1997-2010).
She is a Member of the Joint Committee on Human Rights and has been the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Legal Aid. She is co-chair of the APPG for Street Children and Vice Chair of the APPG for the Private Rented Sector.
Karen’s previous roles/posts have included being Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department of Transport 2005/6, Chair of the London Regional Select Committee, Regional Assistant to the Minister for London, Chair of the London Group of Labour MPs, and Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition, Ed Miliband (2013-2015). She has also been a member of the Work and Pensions, Home Affairs and Children, Schools and Families Select Committees.
Karen was named Child Poverty Action Group’s ‘MP of the Year’ in recognition of her work to alleviate conditions of young families living in poverty. She was responsible for introducing the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018, through a Private Member’s Bill.
