How can governments enable low-income home ownership?
Drawing on an international review of first-time buyer assistance schemes, Hal will highlight the diversity of approaches adopted in the UK and elsewhere, critically appraising their effectiveness in enabling owner occupation for low-income households.
Hal Pawson is Professor of Housing Research and Policy at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. He retains honorary positions at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh where he was based until 2011, as well as at Sheffield University’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning. Hal is a Managing Editor of the international journal Housing Studies. His latest co-authored books ‘Housing Policy in Australia: A case for system reform’, and ‘The Private Rental Sector in Australia: Living with uncertainty’ were published in 2020 and 2021.
