The Labour Housing Group is a socialist society affiliated with the UK Labour Party. Its mission is to develop housing policy that tackles the shortage of affordable, decent homes and promotes council and social housing as core solutions.

LHG is officially affiliated with the Labour Party as a socialist society. This means we contribute expertise, policy proposals, and campaign support related to housing issues.

LHG currently has four working groups, each dedicated to an area of Labour Party policy:

  • Building 1.5 million homes

  • Supporting social housing

  • Tackling homelessness

  • Leasehold reform legislation

Interested activists can apply for endorsement by submitting a statement (up to 250 characters) explaining their housing activism experience and why they align with LHG’s mission. Membership is a pre-condition for endorsement.

LHG contributes to national Labour policy development—such as through the National Policy Forum—and actively campaigns within conference processes to promote its goals.

You can reach LHG via the contact form on our website, providing your name, email, subject, and message. Whether you have questions or want to contribute to the cause, we welcome your engagement.

LHG offers a range of ways for members to get involved in its activities and campaigns, including:

  • Regular online events with experts and practitioners
